Although music is not always appropriate for unabridged recordings, there are occasions when it can play a pivotal role in conjuring a sound picture for a reader. At Strathmore we have a trusted network of composers, arrangers and editors who contribute to this. You can find more examples of our work on our SoundCloud page.

CHILDREN'S AUDIOBOOKS

We were honoured to be asked to produce the audio for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again by the Fleming Estate. Music by Chris O'Shaughnessy.

ADULT FICTION

We produce the audio versions of the Inspector Rebus series. In 1997 we commissioned the composition of a theme which still accompanies the titles of that series. Music (and sax): Ken Gibson.

With the addition of new character Malcolm Fox in The Complaints, a new theme was needed. This one features live bass and drum.

CLASSICAL MUSIC

Julia Sporsén (soprano);
Sergey Rybin (piano);
Music by Richard Strauss;
Taken from the recital CD of Dreamlives, recorded live at the Royal Academy of Music.

MUSICAL

We recorded the cast album of the pocket musical Holding You for the bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar. This is a good example of what can be done on a modest budget by pre-recording sampled instruments and then overdubbing voices and live instruments. Music by Alastair McPherson and words by William Barklam.

In 'Naples Conversation' the company assembles in Naples, where Nelson has docked after his victory at the Battle of the Nile, and compares salacious gossip.

In 'Everyone's A Collector', Sir William Hamilton and King Ferdinand describe their collecting passions.
